Engineer Turned Artist

4 years ago today I walked away from my career as an engineer to be a full-time artist. I thought I had it all figured out [laughs internally].

That song I have called "Starving Artist" came from a very real place as I was thrusted into the unknown world of creatives being treated like they were disposable. But that didn't matter because I was pursuing my passion. Although I've been through some trying times and sacrificed a well-deserved 6-figure salary, I can honestly say I wouldn't have done anything differently. That fearless leap taught me more than any lecture I heard in school or the wisest counsel. My nuts got bigger. I'm not afraid to move on my ideas even with the fear of failing. Over time I've also abandoned the idea of trying to prove your worth to people (or organizations) who aren't even qualified to make that appraisal. This was an issue in both careers. The difference is I don't have to abide by that ideology as much with my art because it's all subjective anyway. And trust me… I know my worth.

The Moral: If you have a passion/desire/purpose/calling and it's weighing heavy on you, stop putting it off. You may struggle, but 9 times out of 8 you won't die. However, you will die slowly everyday that you live in fear.

Shout out to everybody that supported my decision as well as my journey. Just know, I'm bouta do some more fearless shit. Stay tuned!
